A fifth Indiana Jones installment has been confirmed for 2019! We explain everything about this highly anticipated film …

A few months ago, the Walt Disney Company announced that a fifth installment of the adventures of the famous adventurer Indiana Jones would see the light of day.

38 years after the first part “The Adventurers of the Lost Ark” released in 1981, the franchise continues to continue on the success it knows since a new opus has just been confirmed for July 19, 2019 in the United States . Write it down in your diary!

Recall that in 2013, Disney bought the rights to the Indiana Jones franchise from Paramount Pictures. It was therefore a year after having bought LucasFilm which is at the origin of these cult films with Harrison Ford.

When the first rumors of a possible fifth installment came out last year, many names of Hollywood actors were put forward to replace Harrison Ford, 73, in the title role. Like Robert Pattinson (“Twilight”) or Chris Pratt. The latter, which we saw in “Guardians of the Galaxy” and “Jurassic World” would have been approached to play the role of the famous adventurer. But yesterday, the suspense ended because Disney announced that Harrison Ford will once again star in the next installment. To top it off, Steven Spielberg will once again be behind the camera, as with the other four films in the saga. For the director, no one other than Ford can take on the role of the adventurer. So happy ?

As for the scenario, everything is still unclear concerning this fifth film. But we already know that it will not be a “reboot” as it had been announced at the start of the rumors, last year. No, it will be a sequel, a fifth part.

For the story, several ideas / rumors are starting to circulate on fan blogs (not to be taken seriously): The blog advances several hypotheses: why not about the Treasury of Darius III, for example? We can also imagine the story revolving around the book of Thoth, a God of Egyptian mythology … Indeed, the hypotheses are diverse and the rumors well and truly launched until we know more from Disney .

For the writing of the screenplay, Lawrence Kasdan, who wrote the first screenplay for Indiana Jones and some Star Wars episodes with George Lucas, will also be there.

Casting side, big doubts remain about Shia Labeouf. The actor, who has taken a more “artistic” path (let’s say that) could not resume his role of Indy’s son..
As for Karen Allen, aka Marion Ravenwood, mother of Shia LaBeouf, it is not yet known if she will once again be part of the cast as the ex-wife of Indiana Jones. John Rhys-Davies, who was Sallah, has expressed his wish to join in as well.

On the production side, Kathleen Kennedy, the boss of Lucasfilm studios, will be in charge of production, alongside her husband Frank Marshall. Both are longtime close friends of Steven Spielberg and have produced Indiana Jones in the past.

It remains to be seen whether this new opus, scheduled for 2019, will be able to rise to the top of the global box office. The Indiana Jones franchise has already accumulated 1.8 billion euros in revenue since 1981 … but in 2008, “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” did not delight critics. But Indiana Jones remains a star character in the cinema, there is no doubt that many will be those who will eagerly await this film featuring Harrison Ford. Alan Horn, head of Walt Disney Studio, himself said he was confident about this new component: “Indiana Jones is one of the greatest heroes in movie history, and we can’t wait to bring him to the screen again in 2019. It’s rare to have such a perfect combination (director, producers, actor and role) and we couldn’t be more excited to embark on this adventure with Harrison and Steven ”

To be continued … We can’t wait to see a first trailer! And you ?
