Melissa Gentz is a student of Brazilian origin who has been living in Florida since January 2015. On her Instagram account followed by more than 240 000 people, she regularly posts advantageous photos of her.

Until September 26th, when she reveals herself in a different light, her face marked with bruises. Unfortunately, it’s the one that’s been severely scarred by violence.”wrote the 22-year-old.

With this message, she wants to make it clear to all victims of such acts that they should not feel guilty. “Today was the first time I felt the need to not wear mascara or blush on my face. I am not going to hide the stigma of my history because no woman should be ashamed or held responsible for being a victim of domestic violence.it reads.

Melissa Gentz accuses her boyfriend Erik Bretz, whose family owns one of the largest supermarket chains in Brazil, of beating her up. The beating took place on the night of 23-24 September in the young woman’s apartment in Tampa, according to a local media report. The couple had been seeing each other for three months.

According to the police report, the 25-year-old man became “critical and jealous” after consuming sleeping pills and alcohol. He allegedly insulted and hit his victim in the face with a bottle, pulled out his hair and tried to strangle him with his legs. The young man then fell asleep and was arrested by the authorities the next morning.

On an audio recording uploaded by the Daily Mail, we can hear the argument breaking out. A man’s voice shouts out to her: “Why are you so stupid? Stop being stupid! You can’t accept a man dominating you. You can’t accept not being the man in this relationship. But you’re not the man, you’re a woman, you’re going to have to accept it.

The accused was arrested and charged with domestic violence, strangulation and witness tampering. After pleading not guilty, he was released after 48 hours in exchange for bail of 60 000 dollars and the deposit of his passport. However, his passport was confiscated, he was banned from the University and he was also forbidden to approach Melissa.

Huge support

The pictures posted by the influencer have caused a stir among Internet users, who have largely supported her approach in comments. Personalities were also mobilized. Former Brazilian model Luiza Brunet published other photos of the young woman with marks on her face, calling for the attacker to be convicted.
