A whole section of French television is going away!
The indefatigable Jean-Pierre Pernaut, flagship journalist of TF1, has decided to leave his post as presenter of the 1 p.m. news, which he had held for 33 years.
His colleagues, including his “joker” Jacques Legros, who should succeed him at the presentation of the television news, have already been informed of this departure.

Jean-Pierre Pernaut will stop the news “at the end of the year” but will remain on TF1
The 70-year-old host expressed his will in a video posted on his Twitter account.
” During confinement you voted for my 1:00 pm at home, and just after in a survey you even named me “favorite TV personality of the French”. 33 years old, you realize, a third of a century, of passion, of pride too, but I decided to change the pace and pass on the torch of the newspaper at the end of the year “, He explains in his message.
Jean-Pierre Pernaut, who has been inviting himself every noon since 1988 in French homes with his now cult “JT in the heart of the regions”, will explain in more detail, the reasons for his departure, Wednesday or Thursday, in an interview exclusive granted to our colleagues from Figaro.
According to the Parisian, the presenter had been considering this possibility with his management for several months and this well before the Covid crisis, assures TF1. This departure would therefore not be linked to the health context.
As a reminder, during confinement, Jean-Pierre Pernaut had decided to seal himself at home in order to preserve his weakened health, after his recovery from cancer.
But that the fans of the presenter rest assured, this departure of the JT is in no way synonymous with retirement since it should continue to present several programs for the first channel, including the parade of July 14 or a new magazine ” on the infinite riches of our land “.
He should also be entrusted with the presentation of a new program on LCI.
Good luck !
